Dr. Justin Matheson (he/they) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Translational Addiction Research Laboratory (PI: Dr. Bernard Le Foll) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. He received his B.Sc. in Psychology and Biotechnology from McGill University and completed his Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Toxicology at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on understanding how both sex and gender influence acute responses to cannabis, patterns of cannabis use, and long-term effects of cannabinoids (including both harms and potential therapeutic effects). He uses a range of methods to tackle these complex research questions, including human laboratory experiments, clinical trials, human behavioural genetic approaches, and qualitative methods.
